Unfortunately, the mainstream trend in the Korean church has been focused on internal matters. The church's systems and programs have been geared towards how to keep more believers in the church for longer periods of time. As a result, the church has become more institutionalized, quantified, and conservative, leading to serious side effects such as individualism, pastor-centric leadership structures, and polarization. Ultimately, the church has failed to embrace societal changes and has become alienated and criticized, resulting in a decline in the number of churchgoers. This reality has become a decisive factor that exacerbates the economic difficulties of pastors.

The research delves into statistical data to reveal the reality faced by pastors, and demonstrates through the examples of well-known figures in the Bible and history that bi-vocational ministry is a natural calling. The formation of Leslie Newbigin's gospel-centered and ecumenical missiology is also examined to understand his missional church, and his insights provide valuable perspectives on today's context.

Finally, a practical theological reflection is shared on the relationship between missional church and bi-vocational ministry, leading to a concluding remark. Overall, this dissertation presents a compelling case for the importance of bi-vocational ministry in responding to the changing times and embracing the essential mission of the church. It emphasizes the need for churches and pastors to move beyond institutionalization and quantification towards a more missional focus, incorporating all aspects of life into the mission of the church.

안타깝게도 한국 주류 교계의 흐름은 안으로의 강조에 치우쳐 있었던 것이 사실이다. 어떻게 하면 성도들을 더 많이, 더 오래 교회에 머무르게 할 것인가에 교회의 시스템과 프로그램이 맞춰져 있었다. 그 결과 교회는 대형화, 물량화, 보수화 되어갔고 개교회 중심주의, 목회자 중심의 리더십 구조, 양극화 라는 심각한 부작용을 얻게 되었다. 결국 교회는 변화는 사회를 포용하지 못하였고 오히려 외면당하고 지탄의 대상이 되었으며 교세는 계속해서 줄어들고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이러한 흐름은 목회자들의 경제적인 어려움을 가중시키는 결정적 요인이 되었다.

그런 면에서 레슬리 뉴비긴의 선교신학은 오늘날 교회와 목회자들에게 큰 도전을 준다. 선교적 교회론은 하나님께 부름 받고, 또한 보냄을 받은 그리스도인들에게 성직과 교회만 거룩한 것이 아니라 그들의 모든 일상 또한 하나님의 거룩한 나라이며 선교의 자리임을 알려준다. 이것은 이중직을 하는 목회자들에게도 다를 것이 없다. 목회의 현장만 거룩한 것이 아니라 그들의 일터도 하나님의 임재의 장소이며 그들이 자녀로, 부모로, 배우자로, 또한 목회자로 살아가는 그 모든 삶의 자리가 선교의 자리인 것이다. 변화되고 있는 목회 현실 속에서 이러한 선교적 마인드를 가지고 사역하는 목회자와 성도들은 신학적으로도, 역사적으로도, 현실적으로도 이 시대에 꼭 필요한 존재이며 변화하는 시대에 대응할 수 있는 새로운 소망이라고 믿는다.

이 논문 에서는 먼저 목회자들이 처한 현실을 각종 통계를 통해 드러내고자 한다. 또한 성경과 역사 속에서 잘 알려진 인물들의 사례를 통하여 이중직 목회가 갑자기 생긴 사역이 아니라 늘 있어 왔음을 밝히고자 한다. 레슬리 뉴비긴의 선교적 교회를 이해하기 위해서 그의 생애를 돌아오고 그의 복음주의적이고 에큐메니칼한 선교신학의 형성과정을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 그의 선교신학이 오늘날 이 시대에 어떤 통찰을 주고 있는지를 서술하고 선교적 교회와 겸직목회의 관계에 대한 실천신학적 고찰을 나누고 결론을 맺으려고 한다.
