In March 2020, a pandemic began as the COVID-19 took over the world. As social distancing and self-isolation were implemented, it was a natural transition to an era of non-face-to-face and contact-free. This phenomenon brought about a sudden change in public education and church education as well. As the church went through the pandemic, it came to ponder the theological reflection on worship, small group training, and nurturing. And, while seeking a biblical and creative ministry suitable for the New Normal era, it has transformed into a new church.
Dr. Leonard Sweet presented the EPIC theory-experience, participation, image, and connection as an alternative in consideration of the characteristics of the postmodern era. The EPIC theory is applied to the education of the next generation of churches even in the new normal era started due to the pandemic, and it is bringing excellent effects.
Therefore, this thesis proposes an effective faith education program in the new normal era by applying the EPIC theory. First, we looked at Youth Outreach and worship camp, which are religious education that applied experience. Next, in the faith education that applied participation, we presented an online retreat and home worship that you can
participate in like an on-site retreat despite the Corona situation.
In the religious education that applied images, children who encounter faith for the first time were allowed to experience faith through images. Lastly, in the religious education that applied the connection, the Youth Vision Campus and the drive-through visit ministry that connect the faith community were applied.
It is expected that this study will find a breakthrough in the faith of the next generation in the rapidly changing new normal era. Not all churches will be equally applicable. However, if we move forward with the wisdom and faith of God in difficult
times, we are sure that the revival of the next generation will come once again on this earth.
