title | A Mathematical Development of Quantum Mechanics |
abstract |
The mathematics necessary for an axiomatic statement of the laws of quantum mechanics are introduced and developed. The axioms of quantum mechanical systems are stated.
A novel derivation of the projection valued measures associated with the position and momentum observables, as well as the Hamiltonian operator for the quantum harmonic
oscillator are provided. Using these projection valued measures, the familiar laws and probabilities of quantum mechanics are shown to be equivalent to the abstract
formulation in the axioms.
