  2. Follow the link to ProQuest's ETD Administrator and click the "create your account" link. Complete the form and click "Create Account." You will receive a confirmation email from etdadministrator@proquest.com. Click on the "confirm your account" link in that email.

  3. Instructions : Read as much or as little of the "Instructions" as you wish (you can always return to this page later by clicking on the "Instructions" link in the menu on the left side of the screen.) When you are ready click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page.

  4. PQ publishing options : Select either Traditional or Open Access publishing. You can also indicate if you do or do not want search engines to discover your work through ProQuest. If you wish to embargo your work select "No" under "Delaying release in ProQuest" and select a time period. If you want an embargo of more than two years indicate that in the "Notes to administrator" section.

  5. ProQuest/UMI agreement : The publishing agreement that you selected will appear on the screen. Read it through to the end and click "Accept."

  6. Contact Information : Complete and/or correct your contact information.

  7. Dissertation/Thesis Details : Complete the form and click "save and continue."

ProQuest will file for copyright registration on your behalf, if you wish, for a fee which is currently $75.00 or you can register your copyright yourself for only $45.00. If your answer to question #1 is "No" and you wish to register for copyright yourself your answer to question #2 should be "Do not file for copyright" and you should visit http://www.copyright.gov/ to register for copyright. Click "Save & Continue."

  12. Order copies : With the advent of submission of Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD's), the University Library will discontinue hardcover binding of paper copies. ProQuest will print and bind copies of your dissertation, if you wish, for a fee. You can also print your dissertation yourself and take it to a binder. Click on either "Continue with order" or "Decline - do not order."

  13. Submit or Submit & Pay : Review your Submission Summary. Corrections can be made by clicking on the "Change" links or by clicking on the links in the menu on the left side of the screen. When you are satisfied that everything is correct:

Submit : Click "Submit Dissertation/Thesis." or Submit & Pay : if you selected anything that costs money (open access publishing, copyright registration, or binding) click "Continue with submission." To pay any fees click "Pay with credit card." and complete the form. Click "Submit Dissertation/Thesis & Pay."

You will receive an email confirming your submission. After it has been reviewed by the grad school administrator you will receive another email informing you that your dissertation has been accepted for publication.
