This doctoral project is a curriculum, a new narrative that challenges the Catholic Church in a dynamic space. It intersects academia, activism, and personal narrative, teaching theology through a lens that emphasizes equality, inclusivity, and the empowerment of all individuals, while also recognizing the unique perspectives and roles of women. This new curriculum provides our students the opportunity to embrace their Catholic identity and empower them to be active members in our faith. We can be agents of change, subversive leaders working within our Catholic institutions. As an educator committed to feminist theology and transgressive pedagogy, my teaching is rooted in the belief that education is an act of liberation. This involves creating an environment where students feel empowered to think critically, question assumptions, and participate in dialogue as equals. Teaching is not about reinforcing authority but disrupting it, making space for voices and stories that have been silenced and erased.
This curriculum accomplishes more than the transmission of historical or theological information. It fosters the formation of students capable of engaging the Catholic Tradition with both fidelity and critical insight. They will realize that the story of salvation has always included women as agents of revelation, leadership, and transformation. This course contributes to a broader vision for the future of Catholic theological education by recovering women's voices in Scripture and Tradition, introducing feminist theological frameworks, and encouraging thoughtful theological dialogue. The pedagogical vision is one of transformation, liberation, and resistance. By integrating feminist theology, critical pedagogy, and transgressive teaching, students are not just learners but agents of change - theologically, ethically, and socially. The goal is to create a space where theology is not a tool of exclusion but a catalyst for justice, where students do not simply study faith but live it in ways that challenge, heal, and transform the world.
