title Healthy Church thriving with Local Community: A Case Study of Pyeongchon Church
abstract Since the COVID-19 pandemic, all of us have encountered various social changes, and Korean churches are no exception. In fact, the reverend in several churches are either not ready for the future ministry or helpless even though they are working hard and making a concern for Korean churches. Generally, people who don't believe God think Korean churches have little contribution to the community, but they expect Korean churches to propose a righteousness to Korean society and care for the weak such as the aged living alone. Thus, so as for the Korean churches to move toward a sound position, they ought to be reliable and responsible for the community

As we know by the Acts 2, the first generation Christians worked with their gifts and devoted their life when there were in need of help. Most of all, they served for their community and it is evaluated as important role for growth of community based on a mutual cooperation and devotion. In case of the presbyterian church of Korea, they proposed a "Ma-ul Mok-hoi", a ministry for neighborhood community as practical plan, not a theoretical one.

Pyung-chon church is a model of devotion for community. It has served for local community and cooperated with the people of the community before there was an outbreak of the COVID-19. Several leading ministry of Pyung-chon church are "Bongsa-Daehengjin"- intensive volunteer programs, "Sarang-Nanoom Bajahoi"- a flea market for the community, "Agape Senior School"- a lifelong education program for the aged, and lastly, "Pyung-chon Gyoyuk-Moonhwa center Agape "- a cultural education center. Furthermore, Pyung-chon church proposes a good church model, cooperating with Buheung Community Welfare Centers and Food for the Hungry, as their ministry for the local community.

The Korean church is able to propose a righteousness to the local community and serve it not only by providing its human resources, building spaces, or funds with other several community centers but also by cooperating with them. It is clear that the things are very challenging to the Korean church now, but hopefully they could serve the community by making Pyung-chon church as their example and to be recognized as a trustworthy Protestant church by a Korean society.
