title Male Identified Network (MIN): Utilizing the Themes of Radical Hospitality and Imago Dei as the Foundation for Building New Metrics Amongst Men in the Open and Affirming Churches in the Metropolitan Association of United Church of Christ
abstract

The purpose of this project is to develop a theological framework for Radical Inclusion/Hospitality and the Imago Dei that specifically addresses the unique experiences and challenges of male-identified individuals in the context of the Open and Affirming Churches of the United Church of Christ. The framework will provide a clear and concise understanding of how male-identified individuals can effectively dwell together within the context of Open and Affirming Churches, which prioritize welcoming and affirming individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

This project aims to create a safe and supportive space where male-identified individuals can share their experiences and perspectives, listen to one another with empathy and respect, and work together towards a more inclusive and equitable community within the context of Open and Affirming Churches. The dialogue will focus on topics such as masculinity, gender identity, sexuality, spirituality, and social justice, with the goal of fostering a deeper understanding of the unique experiences and challenges faced by male-identified individuals in Open and Affirming Churches of the United Church of Christ.

By creating this framework, we aim to promote a more inclusive and equitable community within these churches, and to support male-identified individuals in living out their faith while being fully seen and celebrated for who they are. This project will be a catalyst for raising awareness of the United Church of Christ's role as God's spokesperson and connecting male-identified individuals in their open and affirming churches with the intention to seek, strengthen dialogue through communal relations, and build new metrics during this era of deconstruction of misogynistic and toxic/hypermasculinity amongst males traumatized by the eurocentricalized church experience.

In addition, we must heighten the understanding of diversity being a part of our human/divine experience and see it as necessary to the healing and liberation of humanity, particularly in this case, men. This project aims to create a model that will embody and practice the theological ideation of Radical Inclusion in communities which intentionally crosses barriers, creates spaces, offers fellowship, communes, and worships, while reimagining, maleness, and redefining masculinity in the United Church in Christ denomination.

Ultimately, this theological model of Radical Inclusion/Hospitality will serve as a guide not only for the United Church of Christ but also for other Christian denominations or faith communities that prioritize inclusivity and affirmation of individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Through this project, we hope to create a more just and loving world, where all individuals are welcomed and celebrated for who they are.
