소그룹 발전을 위한 EPIC 모델 연구: 가능제일교회 청년부 소그룹 사례연구

Korean churches have developed through small groups. There are many reasons for the growth of the church, but in the history of the church, small groups have played an important role in church development. So small groups are very important factor in the church and individual faith, but the form and content of Korean church small groups have not changed. In particular, because of COVID-19, it has become impossible for each church to participate in small groups. So we need a small group inspection through the COVID-19 period. Therefore, this study looked at the present age through the EPIC theory and studied the EPIC small group model suitable for it.
The present age is the EPIC age. We are in a culture where we buy each other’s experiences and participate in roles in other fields. We live in a society where the economy moves not by one sense but by multiple senses and is connected to each other transcending time and space. Therefore, small groups are not one-sided, doctrinal and organizational, but now we need a small group model that mobilizes all senses and participates in and connects to each other’s experiences. In this regards, theological grounds and detailed studies on the EPIC small group model should be proposed.
In this study, the case of the youth group of Ganeungjeil church was selected as the EPIC small group model. This study focused on how the Ganeungjeil church youth group applied the EPIC elements to carious types of small groups.
A survey was conducted on young people who experienced EPIC small groups. Through the EPIC small group, they came to realize the essential purpose and direction of the small group and that the EPIC small group had an impact on their faith development.

한국 교회는 소그룹을 통해 부흥, 발전해 왔다. 교회가 부흥하고 개인의 신앙이 성장한 이유에는 여러 가지가 있겠지만 교회사적으로 볼 때 소그룹은 개인의 신앙 성장과 교회의 부흥, 발전에 중요한 역할을 해왔다. 이처럼 소그룹은 교회와 개인의 신앙에 있어서 아주 중요한 요소이지만, 그러나 한국 교회 소그룹은 예전 모습에서 변화되지 않고 형식과 내용이 시대를 따라 바뀌지 못했다. 특별히 COVID-19를 겪으면서 교회들마다 소그룹 참여는 불가능 해졌는데, 이 기회를 통해서 소그룹의 재정비가 필요하다는 목소리가 커지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 EPIC 이론을 통해 현 시대의 상황을 바라보며 그에 맞는 EPIC 소그룹 모델에 대해 연구하였다.
현 시대는 EPIC 시대이다. 서로의 경험을 구매하고, 다른 분야의 역할에 참여하는 문화 속에 있고, 하나의 감각이 아닌 여러 감각에 초점을 맞추어 경제가 움직이며, 시공간을 초월하여 서로 연결되어 있는 사회이다. 따라서 소그룹도 이제는 일방적이고, 교리적이고, 조직 안에 갇힌 형식이 아니라 모든 감각을 동원하며 서로의 경험에 참여하고, 연결되어 있는 소그룹 모델이 필요하다. 이에 대해 EPIC 소그
룹 모델에 대한 신학적 근거와 구체적인 연구가 제안되어야 한다.
이 연구에서는 EPIC 소그룹 모델로 가능제일교회 청년부의 사례를 선택하였다. 가능제일교회 청년부가 다양한 형태의 소그룹을 시행하고 있고, 그 안에서 어떻게 EPIC적 요소를 접목했는지에 대해 중점을 두었다.
EPIC 소그룹을 경험한 청년들을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였고, 그 결과EPIC 소그룹을 통해 소그룹의 본질적 목적과 방향을 깨닫게 되었으며, 신앙의 성장에 영향을 주었음을 알 수 있었다.
