The problem that arises when faith education pursues religious ideals is that religious failure is regarded as something that should not happen. However, in the reality of a faith journey, religious failure intersects with religious success and is experienced repeatedly. This gap between religious ideals and reality calls for faith education from the perspective of organically integrating religious successes and failures that occur in the faith journey. This study was designed to present a faith education model for it. The specific purpose is to interpret the Bible texts related to David from the perspective of transformational faith and present them as biographical storytelling.
The religious educational value of biographical storytelling in addition to the story method is as follows. First, it helps read the Bible as one story. Second, it helps look at life from the perspective of death. Third, it shifts the attention from one character's storytelling to God's storytelling. Therefore, biographical storytelling is a very ideal method of faith education in applicable situations. The view of transformational faith begins with James Loder's theory of transformation. The theory of transformation explains the transition from conflict to conviction through four-dimensional transformation. It presents a realistic model of faith journey that, combined with universal cognitive experience and neuroscientific knowledge explaining the transition from conviction to conflict, is forced to repeat the transition between conflict and conviction. David's faith journey in the Bible, interpreted from the point of view of transformational faith, repeated success and failure, or rise and fall, from the time he was anointed to death. He was no better a believer than us, who was not free from repeated religious failures despite God's greatest grace.
What is expected by presenting this David's journey of faith through biographical storytelling is to predict failures that would have already begun at the time of religious success, discover them, reveal them, and experience four-dimensional transformation with the failures as a steppingstone. What is necessary for this is to follow the habit of reflecting on oneself in front of God and to pass through the story of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection on the cross.

신앙교육이 신앙적 이상을 추구할 때 생기는 문제는 신앙적 실패를 일어나서는 안되는 일로 여기게 된다는 점이다. 하지만 신앙 여정의 현실에서 신앙적 실패는 신앙적 성공과 교차하며 반복적으로 경험된다. 이러한 신앙적 이상과 현실의 괴리는 신앙 여정 속에서 일어나는 신앙적 성공과 실패를 유기적으로 통합할 수 있는 관점의 신앙교육을 요청한다. 본 연구는 이러한 신앙교육 모델을 제시하고자 기획되었다. 구체적인 목적은 다윗과 관련된 성경 본문들을 변형적 신앙의 관점으로 해석하여 전기적 스토리텔링으로 제시하는 것이다.
전기적 스토리텔링이 이야기 방법에 더하여 가지는 신앙교육적 가치는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성경을 하나의 이야기로 읽게 한다. 둘째, 인생을 죽음의 관점에서 살펴보게 한다. 셋째, 한 인물의 스토리텔링에서 하나님의 스토리텔링으로 시선을 옮기게 한다. 따라서 전기적 스토리텔링은 적용이 가능한 상황에서 매우 이상적인 신앙교육 방법이다. 변형적 신앙의 관점은 제임스 로더의 변형 이론에서 출발한다. 변형 이론은 4차원의 변형을 통한 갈등에서 확신으로의 전환을 설명한다. 이는 확신에서 갈등으로의 전환을 설명하는 보편적인 인지론적 경험과 뇌과학적 지식과 결합하여 갈등과 확신 사이의 전환을 반복할 수밖에 없는 신앙 여정의 현실적인 모델을 제시한다. 변형적 신앙의 관점에서 해석한 성경 속의 다윗의 신앙 여정은 기름부음을 받을 때부터 죽을 때까지 성공과 실패 혹은 상승과 하강을 반복했다. 그는 하나님께 가장 위대한 은혜를 입었음에도 불구하고 반복되는 신앙적 실패에서 자유롭지 못한, 우리와 다름 없는 신앙인이었다.
이러한 다윗의 신앙 여정을 전기적 스토리텔링으로 제시함으로써 기대하는 것은 신앙적 성공의 시기에 이미 시작되었을 실패를 예측하며 그것을 발굴하여 드러내고 발판삼아 4차원의 변형을 경험하는 것이다. 이를 위해 필요한 것은 날마다 습관을 따라 하나님 앞에서 자신을 성찰하며 예수 그리스도의 십자가 죽음과 부활의 이야기를 통과하는 것이다.
