titleMinisterial Functions of Tong Bible School in a Local Church: A Case Study of Ganghwa Bethany Methodist Church, Incheon, Korea
abstract The churches in Korea have achieved a tremendous growth which is, in fact, hardly observed in any other places throughout the world history. However, after the 1990's, the growth of churches has almost stopped, and as a matter of fact, they are gradually declining nowadays. The bigger problem is that we can find any succession of faith to next generations at all these days. The author assumes that future Christianity depends on the succession of faith in the family and begins this thesis from a consideration over what is an effective way that parents can use to teach the Bible to their children. As one of the alternatives, the researcher suggests Tong Bible School (TBS) here and also examines the ministerial functions of TBS.

To address the goal, the author has adopted 'Tong Bible' methodology for the research. 'Tong Bible' methodology is defined as a way of reading all the sixty-six books of the Bible not as 'fragmented books and multiple disconnected stories' but as 'one story' regarding time, space, and humans unitarily, individuals, families, and countries unitarily, and the kingdom of priests, five empires, and the kingdom of God unitarily.

TBS is such an effective method to read through and understand the Bible. Particularly, it is found to have the possibility of being used as a desirable method for religious education not only in the families but in the churches, too, in the future.

Spending the 500th year from the Reformation, the researcher hopes that all the Christian families and churches will return to the Bible. To realize it, in conclusion, the author suggests each individual church to start their own 'TBS.' The researcher can confidently say that TBS is the best way that will allow the families and the churches to go into the path of revitalization once again.
