title | Hospital-Physician Aligment: The Past, Present and Future |
abstract |
The thesis serves to address the current issues with the United States health care business market, while specifically examining hospital and physician alignment of goals
and strategy. A historical look is taken to consider what has shaped modern health care from the early 1900s. Significant changes with payment models and delivery
structure have led to the issues we experience today. Looking forward, the research explains that engaged physicians and supportive hospital organizations provide better
care. Incorporation of Medical Humanities into the hospital culture as well as quality driven incentive structures will shape modern healthcare. The goal for all health
care providers as well as patients is to provide or experience higher quality care at a lower cost, and the thesis considers how that can be achieved.
