This dissertation focuses on the political role of the garden in selected Shakespeare dramas.
Shakespeare elevates the idea of the garden from being about aesthetics of plant life to a political
ideology. Shakespeare's idea of the garden symbolizes civil society, corresponding to his ideal
political system.
